JAZZ  ENSEMBLE

Progressive Jazz Ensemble

In this band students are expected to explore new sounds and concepts in jazz composition. They are often expected to trust their ears more than their eyes when learning music. The result is a higher commitment to expression and execution of the jazz language.

Traditional Jazz Ensemble

This band focuses on the classic arrangements of legends like Count Basie, Duke Ellington and Stan Kenton. Members of this band will also experience more modern charts covering various styles. Through this process, students learn the methods and techniques of the jazz art form from the proven masters.

Rehearsal schedule

The jazz ensembles rehearse Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  Rehearsals = 50 mins.
Progressive Band - 3:30 in the fall / 4:30 in the spring
